The X-Stop® is a spinal surgery procedure that provides a non-fusion treatment for patients with lumbar spinal stenosis. The X-Stop is a titanium implant installed in a minimally invasive spinal surgery that is designed to keep the spinal canal open, alleviating spinal compression that results in intense back and leg pain. The device works by enlarging the disc space between the bones in your back to reduce pressure on spinal nerves, which thereby reduces pain caused by lumbar stenosis. The X-Stop may not be the appropriate procedure in many instances. At University Spine Associates, patients will learn about the pros and cons of the X-Stop and if the X-Stop is the correct procedure for them.
