Practice Philosophy

University Spine Associates is a very unique spinal surgical practice. Dr. Blecher has set up a state of the art facility in Princeton, New Jersey (NJ) as well as several satellite locations for patients who are seeking spine treatment and expert advice as it relates to potential spinal surgery. It is our philosophy that it is critical for patients to have all the right information regarding their disease, treatment process, potential complications, and associated factors that may be related to spinal surgery so that they may make the appropriate decision to their care. We understand that it is difficult for most patients to understand the difference between spinal fusion, artificial disc replacement, laser spine and laser spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, and new and emerging techniques, so we make it a point to spend time with patients, explain the pros and cons of each of these approaches to the treatment of the spine, and how each one of these treatments may or may not be a reasonable option for their diagnosis.

Dr. Blecher spends a significant amount of his time at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, which was rated as one of the top 50 hospitals in the US World and News report in 2008 and 2009 for several categories. Unlike many spinal surgeons forced to potentially compromise patient care and attention to detail in favor of high volume, University Spine Associates is set up so that patients have all the time that they need to communicate their problem, describe the history as it relates to their previous spinal treatment or previous spine surgery as well as their current symptoms, and explain as best the cause, timing, and reason for their severe back or neck pain or spinal deformity. We pride ourselves in providing patients un-rationed time during their office visits, enabling us to form a very strong bond with our patients, both surgical and nonsurgical, and allowing us to follow up with all of our surgical patients during the postsurgical and recovery care stages.

University Spine Associates performs complex spinal surgery for a variety of spinal injuries or deficiencies, including scoliosis, spinal trauma, and spinal tumors, as well as revision spine surgery for patients who have experienced failed surgery at other locations throughout the tristate area. Our practice utilizes a variety of experts in the field for spine treatments of any potential morbidities or complications that may occur as a result of surgery. Dr. Blecher is a fellowship trained, board certified spine surgeon, and a member of several societies that represent the gold standard in the fellowship trained spinal community, such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the Spine Arthroplasty Society, and the prestigious Scoliosis Research Society.

We strive to offer unparalleled care for all patients who are seeking spine treatment and potential spinal surgery. Our practice is continually evolving as the needs for our services expand throughout the New Jersey area, and we aim to continue to provide high quality patient care and helping as many patients suffering from severe back and neck pain as well as other spinal disorders in the excellent professional fashion that we have done so far.

We look forward to answering any questions you may have. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions as they may relate to your condition.
