Laser Disc and Spine Surgery

Laser spine and disc surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that is utilized to treat a wide range of spinal disorders. Patients with various conditions such as stenosis, degenerative disc disease and herniated discs may seek out laser spine treatment. Dr. Blecher has had training with the Holmium laser spinal surgery. At this point, given the lack of definitive level one evidence for the laser treatment of spinal disorders, Dr. Blecher does not offer this treatment to patients. University Spine Associates will discuss with all patients the literature and evidence behind all procedures so that an educated decision is made. Patients who are keen on a “laser” procedure are welcome to come in and be educated, but are encouraged to seek care at other practices that choose to utilize this technique.
